Nonfiction

When I think of the word ‘nonfiction’, I think of books about Martin Luther King Jr., firefighters, or the Holocaust. Nonfiction works are written based upon facts, real events, and real people. I never liked reading that type of genre when I was younger. I still don’t really enjoy reading those books today. I’d rather read a mystery filled young adult book about a high school girl that solves a murder in her small hometown. To be honest, when I signed up for this class, I was thinking it was going to be filled with FICTION books. Obviously I was mixed up with the meanings of ‘fiction’ and ‘nonfiction’; therefore this class isn’t exactly what I thought I was getting myself into. But life is filled with unexpected and unwanted things, so I’m looking at this class in a different light. I’m using this class to improve my nonfictional writing skills, and to gain a better appreciation for nonfiction books, articles, magazines, reviews, etc. I have a feeling that what I want to do with my life will have a lot to do with nonfiction based media. I want to be be an agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. That has a lot to do with current events, as well as the past, on a worldwide basis. I believe that taking this nonfiction class will help better my perception of the past, present, and future, as an agent. Nonfiction has to do with everyone, everyday. I’m sure a lot of people don’t think of the word nonfiction that way, but that’s how I see it.
